This Ain't Your Daddy's Red Sox

You know something's up when Manny's defense in left is more important than his hitting. Schilling and Beckett are both 3-0 and Papelbon's ERA is 0.00. It's been a few years since defense has been able to carry this team. Injuries have put some major holes in the lineup, but the Sox have been able to cover them with leather (OK, Wily Mo is a No No). But let's not go crazy just yet. The hitting lineup Francona put up on Saturday was PA-THET-TIC, and the Big Tub of Goo makes one wonder if trading Arroyo was a mistake.

All-in-all, a good start.
